Merissa Kovach joined the ACLU of Michigan in 2008 and has held roles that include field organizer and policy strategist. In her current role as the Legislative Director, she is responsible overseeing the organization’s statewide legislative and advocacy program and enhancing the political capacity and effectiveness of the ACLU by developing and implementing strategies to proactively advance the ACLU’s legislative agenda.

She is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College with a B.A. in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy.
