Statement from ACLU of Michigan Executive Director, Kary Moss, on the Election Integrity Commission's recent request to states for voter registration information:

“We are deeply alarmed at this attempt by Kris Kobach and the Trump administration to invade the privacy of Michigan voters. The personal and sensitive information of Michigan voters should not be made publicly available.  We urge Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson to reject Kobach’s request and work instead to advance reforms that guarantee that every eligible citizen can make their voices heard in our elections. To do that, Michigan needs to modernize its elections to ensure that all eligible voters are able to safely, securely and conveniently register to vote and cast their ballots. ”
