Voting Rights Advocates: Statewide Early In-Person Voting for August 4 Primary Election Set to End

DETROIT — Statewide in-person early voting for the August 4 Primary Election runs through August 2. Early in-person voting is available because Michiganders voted in 2022 to expand voting rights, making voting more accessible while ensuring that elections remain safe, fair, and accurate.

For people not voting early in person or using an absentee ballot, they can vote in-person on August 4. Registered voters can vote at their polling place on Election Day.

Unregistered voters, or voters who have not updated their registration to their current address, must go to their local clerk’s office with proof of residency to register and may also vote at their clerk’s office using an absentee ballot.

Across the state, local clerks, their staff, and election workers work hard to make sure every eligible voter can cast a ballot – and every vote is counted. Local clerks recruit community members to be poll workers, maintain polling locations, and carry out the checks and balances that protect every ballot.

That is because our elections do not belong to elected officials. They belong to the people who entrust their local clerks to protect our elections and our voting rights.
