DETROIT — Thanks to Michiganders establishing early voting in Michigan, voters statewide can begin casting their ballots in-person this week for the August 4 Primary Election. Early in-person voting begins statewide on July 25 and continues through August 2 and is just one of the ways Michigan is leading the country on voting accessibility.
Across the state, local clerks, their staff, and election workers work hard to make sure every eligible voter can cast a ballot – and every vote is counted. Local clerks recruit community members to be poll workers, maintain polling locations, and carry out the checks and balances that protect every ballot.
Unfortunately, we've seen a dramatic rise in disinformation, including from our federal government. This is designed to make people doubt our elections and even intimidate our trusted public servants who run them. But our elections do not belong to any politicians. They belong to the people who entrust their local clerks to protect our elections and our voting rights.
To see our clerks in action, and just how secure our elections are, we urge you to serve as a poll worker in the upcoming elections. Elections belong to the people.
