Marty Berger is a Skadden Fellow at the ACLU of Michigan. He received his undergraduate degree in Anthropology from Harvard College and his law degree from Stanford Law School. As a law student, he completed internships with Civil Rights Corps—a nonprofit in Washington, D.C., specializing in bail reform litigation—and the Alaska Public Defender Agency, where he represented over fifty indigent individuals accused of misdemeanor offenses. Marty clerked for the Honorable Myron H. Thompson on the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama and the Honorable Brad Garcia on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Outside of work, you can find him reading his way through the Grand Rapids Public Library and searching for the city’s finest chocolate chip cookie.
